The nursery and garden seed catalogs have been arriving for the past two months. This is the time when I like to spend time checking out new cultivars of vegetables and new varieties of perennials flowers. Honestly, I think the main reason I look through the catalogs is to drool over the picture perfect examples of what I image growing in the yard and garden.

Yes. Yarden. I’m not a huge fan of lawn maintenance and I never have been. We struggle to create pristine green blankets out of grass that’s better suited for Kentucky’s climate. And we fight with the plants that grow naturally here, cursing their resilience and calling them weeds.
