One thousand can either be a lot or a little. It’s a little when you’re burning through Chuck E. Cheese’s game tokens at a fourth grade birthday party and have to share those tokens with a hundred other kids. But this Christmas, a thousand seemed like an endless number.

Hastings College is nationally recognized as one of the finest liberal arts colleges in the nation. I enrolled as a result of high academic and musical standards, not knowing that I would be involved in so many diverse activities. Now with graduation just months away, I have looked back at my college career only to realize how being over-involved in activities was more of a blessing than a burden.

I thought about the forms of entertainment and recreation that we have here in Hastings and came up with the following claim: Without an active pursuit of recreation and an open mind, it’s easy to say that there is nothing to do in Hastings. Tennis Obsession

I started taking private lessons the summer before my sophomore year and I was in love with the sport. I had a great coach who was encouraging and saw my potential. Throughout high school I continued to take lessons and play in the off season to make sure I was at my best for season.

A New View on an Old Sight

Being a college bound senior, I have been receiving piles and piles of recruitment letters telling me why their own college is the best pick. Many of their best arguments are their surrounding town and location. Whether they are convincing me of the opportunities of a city or the charm of a small town, their arguments always involve food, people and activities. To me, Hastings College has quite a blessing in its town of Hastings.
