The latest tragedy in Moore, OK really got me thinking about all of the little things I take for granted on a daily basis. It seems lately that stories of tragedy have littered the news and it always makes me think about the many blessings I have in my life…but I need to pay more attention to it all of the time.

At special moments joyful tears are expected

As you all know parent’s night is where you meet up with your child in the middle of the court for the entire audience to see. Every year Adam has given me a hug and not the ones they have to give, but it truly feels like a heart-felt hug that he wants to give.

Worrying about what is to come!

On our way to Hebron this week to watch Adam play basketball, Jason mentioned that we were on the road that Adam would be taking if he decided to go to KU. I immediately started to tear up and got a lump in my throat. I turned away from Jason so he wouldn’t notice. I know why it hit me so hard, it was because it came out of nowhere, when I am expecting a comment about Adam I can control my emotions a little better but when it hits me from nowhere – watch out!

No, THIS is 40

Earlier this month my husband and I went on a rare date night—a welcome and much needed outing. I had wanted to see several movies released during the holiday season. Which one to choose? We finally settled on one I’d seen several people make Facebook comments on—This Is 40. Well, after sitting through the 2+ hours of our movie choice, I decided if this is what to expect at age 40, why would anyone want to experience it?

Glowing Letters of Recommendation

This week I have given Adam an ultimatum: get two letters of recommendation by this Friday or there will not be any video games, IPods, cell phone or TV this entire weekend. I have been asking the boy to get two letters since school started in August and I am done waiting.
