Semester Tests – Round 2
In 2011, I wrote about semester one tests at Adams Central, and it was a fairly distasteful blog post. Well, I’m going to be even more pessimistic this time. How can I loathe (that loathe with an ‘e’) something more than the first round of semester tests? That’s a good question.
Light Up the Sky
Here we are again, on the precipice of the “official” start of summer. Spring sprung quickly, the moths have come and gone, and now the temperatures are rising. There always seems to be excitement in the air too with school getting out for the summer. Well this, my friends, is my charge for you to make the most of summer.
Vandalism at the Park
What is the deal with vandalism, destruction of other people’s property, and general disrespect for what’s not yours??? I don’t get it. And now that I have a family, I really don’t appreciate having to explain to my young children what vandalism is.
Fitting June into the month of May is a different way of thinking for those of us who love the yard and garden. Strummin’ That Six String
About seven years ago I got a guitar for my birthday. The summer before my family and I visited my aunt who lived in Nashville and I fell more in love with country music….and even more in love with the guitar.

A Fresh Look
The first time I wrote for the Hword I wrote about my impression of Hastings when I arrived as a perspective (and later on an enrolled) student. That was a LONG time ago, over 20 years in fact. Lately I’ve been stepping back and taking a look at Hastings and the surrounding towns as someone just visiting for the first time. Things have changed and yet some things have stayed the same. In imagining I’ve never seen these towns before, what is it I see?
