Did Netflix and Redbox Kill the Video Store?
When I moved to Hastings, I was happy to discover that there wasn’t a large chain video store like Blockbuster. It brought me back to my college days in Pullman when we would go “save Video Quest.” Pullman, which was about the same size of Hastings when I lived there, boasted two Blockbusters and the locally owned Video Quest.
Hidden In Plain View
The new gallery show at Graham Gallery features an artist we haven’t seen before in this area, Patric Jernigan. He lives in Plainview, Texas. His wife has connections to a small Nebraska town, which brings them to Hastings from time to time. He liked Graham Gallery and the owner, Angela Graham, liked his art, so a show was born. It is called “The Book of Hidden Things”.
Nice Day for a Green Wedding
This is the season for beautiful summer weddings. Long flowing white gown, tuxes, cut flowers, special food & drink, and guests traveling from all over to share the day. Eileen’s Cookie Business a Winning Recipe
Cookies may never lose their appeal, but companies that make them can certainly crumble. Instead, Eileen’s Colossal Cookies has flourished, for nearly 28 years.
4th of July at Fisher Fountain
I’m not sure when the YWCA started holding their Independence Day celebration at Fisher Fountain, but I sure wish it had been going on when our two were little. (Im)practical Magic
Don’t believe in magic? I do. The most magical thing happens when I enter a department store and–come to think of it–boutiques and other storefronts splashed with colorful displays of apparel and accessories. It always feels the same. My heart flutters a bit, there is a twinge of excitement that forces a smile and it feels like Christmas morning.
