Snow day! Now what can I do to wear out the kids?
“It just doesn’t snow like it did when I was a kid.”
Well, guess what.
A big opportunity has presented itself, which maybe hasn’t happened since I was 10 (and 4 ft. tall). Now’s my chance. Your chance. Our chance.
Waist-high snow drifts. Cheeks burned from the cold. Fogged over glasses with every breath. What fun!
Moon boots. Bread bags on each foot like an extra pair of socks.
Boots that come off in wet, heavy snow.
Raw cheeks and chins from clunky, wet ski masks and scarves.
Tunnels through snow piles. Tunnels through drifts. Tunnels though anything dig-able.
Sled ramps from snow piles that were soft until the sun created a crust on top. (Even on a 10 year old those frozen bumps stung a bit.)
King of the Mountain!
Snowball fights.
A snowman so big three of us lift the middle section.
And we can do it all in an hour. Because that’s all the time we have.
Are you with me?
Have some memories of wintertime in Hastings?
