  1. If there is one thing that Hastings needs, it is a store that carries affordable clothing for women of all sizes. I find myself heading north on 281 if I am needing clothes for work. I can find some casual clothes at Herberger’s but even there it is somewhat limited.

  2. With the lack of Women’s stores to choose from, I find myself going to Maurices most often these days. Being in my late twenties, I’ve had problems finding clothes that weren’t “too young or too old”, but usually I can find what I’m looking for in there. Not to mention, if you go at the right time, they have great prices on their clearance items.

  3. Goodwill!

  4. Another vote for Goodwill (or Crossroads, or St. Joe’s)…
Funny enough, shopping at a second-hand shop is where I shop for Banana Republic, Gap, Levi’s, and even Louis Vuitton.

  5. Ditto to thrift stores.

And I like Big G’s women’s Carharrt section. Toasty socks & hats, great clothes for working and playing outdoors, gloves for work and warmth, jeans, t’s & shorts…

I also recently found a wonderful fleece sweater at Orscheln’s on clearance. I guess I spend more time in hardware stores than clothing stores. But it consolidates errands!

  6. I also love shopping thrift stores in Hastings. In fact, I have several vintage dresses from the 1950s and 1960s that I get compliments on all the time and I found them at thrift stores here. Herberger’s has a good selection of basics such as sweaters and jeans. In my opinion, having less apparel selection can sometimes force you to get more creative in your wardrobe. Also, I would suggest Spanky’s antiques for unique, funky vintage jewelry and brooches. Again, I can’t say enough about Hastings’ thrift stores. If you’re apprehensive, give it a try! Bring a friend and treasure-hunt together!

  7. CLIMATE! It’s this new store that just opened downtown. They have a wonderful selection of women’s clothing. Lots of brands similar to The Buckle. Billabong, Roxy..MISS ME. I know those are popular right now. And for the working professional–great jeans, and they are getting dressy clothes for women as well. I’m in my mid to upper twenties and love almost everything in this store.

It’s a great addition to the downtown, since we have hardly anywhere else to shop in Hastings. If you haven’t been there, you need to check it out. GREAT JACKETS, Jewelry, hats, hoodies, tees, and really, there is just something for everyone. EVEN GUYS!

that’s my peace. :) Oh it’s right next to JIMMY JOHNS..(they don’t have a sign yet.)

    • I hear lots of comments on why stores leave Hastings but in the end it is often because the Hastings area residents don’t support these stores. This new store CLIMATE is an incredible store, very similar to the Buckle but locally owned. If you haven’t been there you should check it out. While you’re there you need to see the WINESTYLES store in the same building. Very cool place with a great selection of wines and weekly Friday night wine tastings. Very BIG CITY!

  8. i agree climate would be the best place in hastings to shop. its a very fashionable store and has great people there to help you find what your looking for!

  9. ( alright alright …. i know i am slightly biased ,,,, )
HOWEVER ….. since the death of our mall ….. there is a HUGE hole in this community for
clothing options. i have spent a lot of years shopping goodwill; herbergers ; ebay .
we have a fantastic goodwill and orschelns has its place for unremarkable sportswear but
i love dressing up ( really !! i do !! ) NOT wearing cargo pants; quite honestly my daughter has been a great influence in helping me to dress with a bit more style and taste. i am delighted by the selection CLimaTe is bringing to Hastings … the staff work hard at knowing their product & helping you be comfortable & have fun – find great pieces, mix it up & create your own style …. but don’t get stuck in the same old clothing rut Hastings !!!
