Point and Shoot
Growing up I was the subject of many photographic outings. My father took more pictures than anyone I knew. Developing his own photos in the dark room, experimenting with different processes and techniques and even building devices so he could photograph the stars. He was nuts for taking pictures and I believe he has passed some of that passion for photography on to me. I may not find the same things interesting as he does/did but I definitely have a tick that makes me want to take pictures of some of the most obscure and random things.
Taking pictures allows you to see the world in a whole new way. The ordinary and otherwise ignored can become the extraordinary and exciting. Seeing the world through a lens allows you to appreciate the smallest most insignificant things. That is what I love most about it.
You don’t need a fancy camera by any means. A simple point and shoot digital camera will get you by. Though the difference in cameras can very results the only result I am challenging you to find is viewing the world in a whole new way and any camera will do.
I am not the best photographer nor do I claim to even be a photographer. I am just a guy who loves to use his camera and capture the world the way I see it. I said it. With your camera you can capture the world you see. No one may understand why you take pictures of cracks in the walls, bricks or even random signage but they don’t have to and that is the best part.
I love nothing more than to go downtown here is Hastings on a Saturday morning and just walk down the alley taken pictures of the things I find unique, beautiful and interesting. From garbage cans to cigarette butts to flowers, all things are beautiful. It is just a matter of changing the way you look or should I say see things. So I challenge you to grab a camera and go find the things that are beautiful to you and don’t be surprised if this changes as you start to take more and more and more pictures. Plus you get to be outside and what’s better than that.
So enjoy this museum we live in and get inspired.
