The Little Things
Whoever (Or is it whomever? I never know which one to use.) said it’s the little things in life was on to something. It really is the little things every day that get me by in this big chaotic mess called life. I feel that if you have something to look forward to, it gives you more incentive to get out of bed. On time. Read below if you are at all curious about what gets me through my day.
1. My daily soda run across the street.
At about 2 o’clock every afternoon, two of my co-workers and I walk across the street to Burlington Express for our daily caffeine fix. I look forward to this, even in the dead of winter with 3 feet of snow drifts piled between me and my Diet Coke with a splash of Cherry Coke. It’s nice to get out of the office, I enjoy these two co-workers and our non-work conversations, and the girls across the street are funny. Ashley, one of said girls, is a kindred spirit. She has the same mascara wants and eyelash issues as I do, so get to talk about one of my favorite subjects: makeup!
2. The Corbel font on Microsoft Word.
I discovered this font about six months ago on Word and I was immediately overjoyed. It spoke to me. Every time I type, I smile. My work email has it also, so it’s like double dipping in the joy pot. Corbel has turned all my documents into pretty little pieces of sunshine with a mixture of class and fun. Like a mullet, but way more attractive. When I open an old document and it isn’t in Corbel, I immediately switch the font. Why should you be stuck in a Times New Roman world when there are dozens of fonts out there just waiting to make you smile?
3. The Bourne Ultimatum poster in my office.
Oh Matt Damon. You are delicious. The poster, simply put, is enormously tasty eye candy strategically placed on the wall across from my desk. Does it make me a little like a 13 year old girl with her Bop pull out poster of Justin what’s his bucket hanging above her bed? Probably. But I don’t care. It’s Matt Damon as Jason Bourne and he’s been working out. I’m leaving my framed and matted (read: classy) poster up.
4. Being matchy matchy.
I read somewhere that you aren’t supposed to match your eye shadow to your outfit, but obviously, I could care less about that rule. I love being matchy matchy. It TOTALLY makes my day! I bought a fluorescent yellow eye shadow because it perfectly matches a fluorescent yellow sweater I have. It can’t help but be a good day when you have that winning combination going on.
Pick out a few things to look forward to every day. At the very least, it’ll help you get out of bed when you need that extra push.

You and my girls are on the same wavelength when it comes to matchy matchy!! I love that eye shadow, by the way. Great article!!
