Rave Review on Kitty’s Roadhouse
You know something is going right when you visit a new bar/grill twice in one week. Where do I begin….let’s start with the decor – themed fun with attention to the smallest detail. You will want to visit often because each time you will notice something new. The door handles, bar, beer tap, bathrooms, even the walls offer a unique decor – first indication some really creative people are behind this venture. Peek into the kitchen, the wood fire pizza oven is quite the show piece. An authentic Italian pizza oven in Hastings commands you to sample its wares.
Each pizza crust is stretched and formed by hand. The oven temperature exceeds 600 degrees, the end result ready in 90 seconds. A pizza lover’s dream come true! Crisp outer crust with a chewy center, we ordered the caramelized onion and blue cheese pizza – a real treat. On to a second pizza – the Margarita – real buffalo mozzarella and fresh basil the freshness was to true the name. A third pizza – the sausage and red pepper was over the top. A second visit was in order.
The menu offers a wide variety of appetizers, burgers, broasted chicken, and “lubricants.” I enjoyed the menu headings, following the decor race theme. The Angus beef burgers are fresh, tasty, and a true burger not a frozen patty. Broasted chicken is a blast from the past but moist, flavorful and that crispy coating brought back great food memories. The lubricant sauces finished off our menu selections which we enjoyed sharing. If you are lucky enough to have Owen clear your table he might drop the sauces on your shoes and you get a personalized free shoe shine! We had fun.
Well, a third trip is in order, after hearing about the dessert pizza – strawberries and chocolate….well I’ll be back. And as I was leaving I caught a glimpse of one of the “creative” sparks behind this venture. Terry Pond-Svoboda was in the kitchen – her talents never cease to amaze me. Start your engines and head to Kitty’s, can’t wait for the outdoor season and the tiki bar.

I enjoyed reading the reviews on both Rivals and Kitty’s. It gives an idea of somewhere new to go.
I love the pizza. The blue cheese onion was the bomb!!! The bar is not very child friendly. Need high chairs and changing tables, but then again it is a bar. More custom selections in the pizza area would be nice. Parking is very muddy during the wet seasons.
Finally made it to Kitty’s this weekend. I could kick myself for not making more an attempt earlier. What a GREAT restaurant for Hastings to have. Such a fun atmosphere. Can’t wait to take visiting family and friends there.
