It never fails. As May approaches, I have this grand plan that I’m going to be organized and have everything done ahead of time since I know the chaos that the month brings in my family. But then about this time of the month hits each year, and I wonder how we made it through most of the work deadlines, the kids’ events and all of the celebrations of graduation, birthdays, anniversaries and more.

I’m sure many of you can relate. And while I’ve narrowed down May as being one of the most hectic months, truth is as my children are getting older, it’s becoming even more of a juggling act it seems like each week. One that has taken a few times of reprioritizing and changing up schedules to make most everything work for everyone.

I’m new to the Hword.com, and actually new to blogging despite my journalism background, but I’m definitely not new to the Hastings area. While we live just north of town, we take advantage often of a lot of what the community has to offer. Hopefully you’ll be able to find out about a few different things through what I write and take time to discover some of the great places and people that call this area home.

Until then, enjoy the nice, hot weather that seems to be sticking around. If there’s one thing I’ve learned about this time of year, it’s that it goes by too fast to not take advantage of the “unscheduled” moments – no matter how few those may seem to be!
