I Need A Recess

I’m that typical high school kid. School is tolerable for the first few weeks but after a while it gets monotonous, boring, and almost worthless (even though I understand my education isn’t worthless, but it is how high school students start to feel). So, I got to thinking about my elementary days today, and how wonderful it was. I never complained about being over worked or stressed. So why is there difference in emotions between elementary school and middle/high school? I narrowed it down to one aspect. Recess.

Just kidding… but seriously. Who decided between 6th and 7th grade I didn’t deserve a recess anymore? I motion that the new cutoff should be as soon as you get your high school diploma. Up until then, each and every high school kid gets a 45-minute recess. I would happily give up a study hall for a 45-minute recess, who wouldn’t?

I’m not talking about a weight lifting class or some kind of physical fitness class. What I want is a legitimate, elementary recess with a playground and the whole nine yards. Let me take a period out of my day so I can play kickball, two-hand-touch football, tag, or whatever it is kids play these days. I honestly don’t think that is asking too much.

Any high schooler’s disagreement with my proposition is a lie. A seven-hour school day of repetitive lectures, notes, and homework really wears down a teenager. I don’t feel as if at the ages of 12-18 we are mature enough for that (obviously, since I’m begging for a recess).I’m not the first student to complain about this; I’m just the first to put it into writing. The idea is a little extreme, maybe even pathetic, but it is the best I’ve got.

This one is for you Adams Central Jr.-Sr. High School administrators. Hopefully you take this motion seriously. Can it at least be mentioned at the next board meeting?
