Gary Michael’s Clothiers first opened its doors in 1983 here in Hastings and in Lincoln in 1994. For 27 years Gary Michael’s has emerged as Nebraska’s Premier Store for Men. Boasting a diverse client base, Gary Michael’s serves politicians, professional athletes, Olympians, business leaders, salesmen, medical and legal personnel just the same as farmers, ranchers and servicemen. Gary Michael’s is known for its menswear, but they also have an extensive women’s line for the sophisticated shopper and has for some time, which I believe is a real” treasure” in Hastings.

Time and time again, we at the Chamber hear the same complaint, “there is nowhere to shop for women’s clothing in Hastings.” So, this summer I decided to do some research on that very topic, and what I found really surprised me. We have 15 retailers in town that sell women’s clothing. FIFTEEN!! I think that is a pretty good number for a community like Hastings. I’ve been in Hastings since 2002 when I came to attend Hastings College and over time we lost several retailers. All anyone (including me) ever sees is what was lost. It’s time we all wake up and see what we actually have here in Hastings.

I have talked to a number of people, who had no idea that Gary Michael’s even carried women’s clothing! Gary Michael’s has carried women’s clothing for quite some time now. Everyone knows that they have men’s suits, shirts, ties, sportswear, shoes, outerwear, men’s big & tall and accessories as well as their Nike Golf line. Their women’s apparel is just as impressive. Perhaps their most popular line, isn’t even clothing, it’s their Brighton accessories…and what woman doesn’t like accessories? The Brighton line includes: jewelry, shoes, belts, bags, purses, wallets, luggage, perfume, lotion, and sunglasses and all very reasonably prices! They also have a line of women’s clothing called Adventura, which I absolutely love! They carry women’s outerwear, shoes, sweaters, shirts, vests, pants, jeans and jackets. Gary Michael’s also has a good selection of Husker gear for men and women, which is a staple in any Nebraska retailer.

Gary Michael’s is in fact MUCH more than just a place to go to buy a new suit or a tie for your dad…but don’t take my word for it. Go and check it out for yourself and see what Gary Michael’s has to offer.
