Pedestrian right-of-way? Who knows what that means? When we lived in California, it was well-known that a pedestrian in the roadway, or waiting to enter a crosswalk, had the right-of- way, and vehicles stopped to wait for the pedestrian. Naturally, the pedestrians tried to make eye contact with drivers to be certain it was safe to cross, but it was the norm there, and seems to be normal almost everywhere else we've visited, but not here in Hastings.
