Decisions, Decisions

A few months ago I wrote about the beginning of our house remodeling/addition project. Things are on track for the most part. We realized from the beginning that harvest would hit and we would still be in the middle of our mess. What we didn’t realize was the amount of decision making that goes into home projects. Well, we probably realized the amount. It is the time factor we are amazed at.

We Love Our Grasses

Wow, what beautiful lawns in the greater Adams County area, even under difficult weather conditions. I feel so blessed with a neighbor on one side with an outstanding tall fescue lawn and on the other side one of the best bluegrass lawns. Much investment of time and talents goes into lawn management.

Canning

It turns out that I can be super domestic when I put my mind to it. The boyfriend and I recently canned cucumbers for the first time. If that doesn’t make me domestic, I don’t know what does. Do I have to overtly state that we are pickling them, or is it implied when you say you are canning cucumbers? Either way, we magically turned cucumbers into pickles.

Weeding, Pruning and Controlling

Prune and control seems to sum up the yard agenda for summer. Most everything for the flowerbeds and landscape has now been planted. Due to the unusually cool spring, transplants seem well established. Now it is time to move into the next phase of the yard and garden season, that of weeding, pruning and controlling insects and disease.
