Tuesday, January 31st, 2012 by Don Siffring
The nursery and garden seed catalogs have been arriving for the past two months. Honestly, I think the main reason I look through the catalogs is to drool over the picture perfect examples of what I image growing in the yard and garden.

Salvaged Goods
Friday, January 27th, 2012 by Amy Sandeen
I am a fan of salvaged goods. Back in college, we used to have a system of goods exchange. Unwanted items were left in the dormitory hall. Other dorm residents were free to snap up and repurpose the items in a new wardrobe or dorm room.

Scotch and Austrian Pines
Friday, November 4th, 2011 by Don Siffring
Scotch pine and often Austrian pine, are dying by the dozens in Hastings and the surrounding communities. Death of the tree, especially one over 10 years of age, has been confirmed as the victim of Pine Wilt disease. This is a significant loss to Adams County, both from the protective purpose for which these trees were planted and/or the beauty of the landscape which gives us the warm green feeling, even in the cold wintery months.
