Monday, March 15th, 2010 by Scott Miller
If it wasn’t for the mid-nineteenth century I may not be the person I am today. Why do I say that, you ask? Well, that is when the bicycle was said to have been invented, though there is some controversy surrounding the actual date–but that’s a whole other story. The bicycle has been a source of stories throughout my life and so the journey begins.

Into the Mouth of (March) Madness
Monday, March 15th, 2010 by Andy Herrmann
I began the day with high motivation and grand intentions of taking down the Christmas lights that are perched atop my gutters and silently threatening to stay there through the Ides of March. In order to embark on such a dreaded task, however, I deemed it necessary to first plop down on my couch for a moment of pre-chore motivational contemplation (read: “TV-watching”). In that precise moment, I became a victim of March’s silent productivity killer: madness—MARCH MADNESS.

Walk this Way
Thursday, March 4th, 2010 by Amy Sandeen
I’m tired of spending my travel time with steel, rubber, ice and snow between the earth and me. I want to feel the steps I take and I want to pay closer attention to the inches, yards, & miles I travel between here and there.

Feel the (Lung) Burn
Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010 by Becky Sullivan
I’ve recently started playing basketball on a women’s pick-up league on Sunday nights. When my good friend first told me about it and asked me if I wanted to play, I believe my initial question was, “Are you out of your mind?” I’m going to reveal my age and throw out some dates, but I had not played a full-court, competitive basketball game since 1996 – yes approximately 14 years ago. And that was in the Whoopers and Hoopers tournament. Well after high school and intramural college regular play.

What To Do?
Wednesday, February 17th, 2010 by Jack Sandeen
Growing up in Wyoming, my first transportation, after Shank’s mare and a series of bicycles, was a Ford Model A pickup. I mentioned it often to my son, in high school then and working for Randy Chick at the old Fleetway Service Station that one thing led to another, and eventually a ’49 Chevy pickup mysteriously appeared in our driveway, towed there by said son with said service station worker.

Winter Stargazing in Hastings
Tuesday, February 16th, 2010 by Andy Herrmann
Two weeks ago, I had the good fortune of spending an afternoon perched under the night sky. For those of you struggling with the logistical and climatic implications of that last sentence, keep reading.

Cat Scratch Fever
Monday, February 15th, 2010 by Scott Miller
I never owned a pet growing up. I never owned a pet as a young, single adult. No, it wasn’t until I met–and later married–a pet-lover (animal fanatic) that I found myself co-existing with a domestic animal. Today I say without shame, that I am a proud pet parent. I never imagined that I would be referring to myself as a “pet parent” and DEFINITELY never imagined that I would have begun to create custom furniture for him.

Winter Fun In Wake of Snow Storm
Friday, January 29th, 2010 by Jeannette Bierman
The sun peeked through the winter clouds forcing the chilly tide back just enough for some outdoor fun. That spelled opportunity for a couple of “DINKS” and their dogs.
