Have you all seen the DIRECTV commercial about the guy who is paying too much for cable so he throws things? And then when he throws things his schedule happens to open up, then sooner or later he ends up taking in stray animals? Well, that’s the way I am going to start feeling, besides the paying too much on cable and taking in stray animals part.

The California Zephyr

About twelve months ago, we arranged to travel to Michigan by Amtrak, but complications arose. That’s the “bad” news. The good news is that Amtrak allows saving the value of unused tickets for future use, so we recently rescheduled a getaway to Colorado, based largely on now-verified advice from a friend that the scenery is “spectacular!”

Maisie Dobbs

I ripped through it, as I do with most novels, but Masie stuck with me, and we’ve now stuck it out together through eight books. Why?

Salvaged Goods

I am a fan of salvaged goods. Back in college, we used to have a system of goods exchange. Unwanted items were left in the dormitory hall. Other dorm residents were free to snap up and repurpose the items in a new wardrobe or dorm room.
