Public television, a gem
Tuesday, December 14th, 2010 by Russanne Erickson

Sharing
Monday, December 13th, 2010 by Judy Sandeen
There are so many opportunities to share with others at this time of year. Hastings is a very generous community, as borne out by the many giving trees, mitten trees, and food drives at various places throughout the town. Whether you take a paper ornament from the tree at Hometown Variety and Gifts with a suggestion for a small gift for an elderly person, a Salvation Army gift suggestion from the Angel tree at the Imperial Mall, or place warm scarves, mittens and hats on a tree at your church, you can easily help someone less fortunate than yourself.

I am sure some of you have heard of the movie “The Nightmare before Christmas.” My hubby and I have, in a way, been living in a nightmare of our own while trying to get ready for Christmas. So how did we get from boxes to a decorated Christmas tree?

Historic Hastings
Monday, December 6th, 2010 by Sheldon Howard
As a teenaged resident of Hastings, I’ll admit that I have occasionally succumbed to the “Hastings is boring, there’s nothing special here” mentality. Over the years of living here, however, I’ve realized that that is completely untrue

Lunch with First and Second Graders
Tuesday, November 30th, 2010 by Russanne Erickson
I’ve been eating lunch with first and second graders for just over a year now, and I have to tell you that it is a treat. I say that for 3 reasons: the food, the company, and recess. Let me explain…
