Counting My Blessings

We were so close to making it through this winter without the dreaded stomach flu. BUT–fate threw us a curve ball and the last week of February we found our luck had run out. It’s bad enough when young children in the household suffer with the various symptoms of the not-too-pretty illness. It’s simply not fair when MOM succumbs to it as well! And here is where I learned to count my blessings.

American Cancer Society

As a junior in college, I realized it was time to start doing internships. As I was searching, I found an internship with the American Cancer Society. My grandpa has been struggling with cancer for the last few years, so I thought this would be a great opportunity to help those in need and also show him how much I care, plus the job description sounded right up my alley.

Transplanted student finds home in Hastings after college

Being a Coloradan has some negative connotations in this state. I find that every time I mention that I’m from Colorado to a Nebraska native they assume I am one of three things: unfriendly, a crazy driver, or a hippy.

Adventures In Declawing

My son’s cat, Bramble, has been a member of our family for about a year. He is a large, silver tabby with gold eyes and a pink nose. Until last week, he was also the proud owner of a very sharp set of front claws.

The Little Things

Whoever (Or is it whomever? I never know which one to use.) said it’s the little things in life was on to something. It really is the little things every day that get me by in this big chaotic mess called life. I feel that if you have something to look forward to, it gives you more incentive to get out of bed. Tennis Obsession

I started taking private lessons the summer before my sophomore year and I was in love with the sport. I had a great coach who was encouraging and saw my potential. Throughout high school I continued to take lessons and play in the off season to make sure I was at my best for season.

Fun with History

Thanks to a great teacher in my little country school, I developed a love for Nebraska history early on. It doesn’t matter what geographical part of Nebraska (although the center of the state is my favorite)–I love learning about it all.
