I get bored with my work-outs very easily, so I looked at the YMCA group fitness schedule and decided to try Zumba. If you don’t know, Zumba is a Latin dance exercise program.

Five Minutes for Gratitude
Tuesday, May 24th, 2011 by Laura Sunderman
With so many Graduations parties going on around us, we can’t help but compare them all in our heads. The food, the timing, the invitations; all of little details that add up to big event. All the extravagance that seems to go with this event seems to be indulgent, and comparatively to 20 years ago, it is.

Monday, May 23rd, 2011 by Josh Wooster
As college graduation is fast approaching, I have been weighing my options of where to live in the future and begin a career. My thoughts have led me to consider Hastings and its “good life” as a viable option for settling down, beginning a career, and eventually starting a family.

Where Does our Food Come From?
Wednesday, May 18th, 2011 by Denise Howie
In April, our preschool field trip was to Murman’s Dairy Farm in Glenvil. It’s a good-sized dairy with about 2,500 cows. After stepping off the bus and into the cow barn, our guide asked the kids how many glasses of milk they thought each cow could give us per day. Someone said “Why would a cow give me a glass of milk?” Another said, “I get my milk at the store!” That field trip got me thinking. Do our children know where their food comes from? For that matter, do we as a society know where our food comes from?

A Farmer’s Fickle Spring
Tuesday, May 10th, 2011 by Jill Kimle
After a LONG delay, spring planting is in full swing at our farm this week. While rain in the month of April was much needed, it and the unseasonable chilliness delayed the usual rush of the month. The kids and I loved the fact my husband got to hang out with us that much more. My husband, and scores of other farmers in the area, did not enjoy it as much!

The Morning Commute
Monday, May 9th, 2011 by Megan Arrington
The alarm goes off and you rush through your morning routine: breakfast—check, shower—check, hair/make-up—check, coffee—check, more coffee—check, check. All of these rather necessary morning tasks are done at home, while the largest task of the work day is actually getting to the office; the office that is less than a mile from your house.

District Music
Tuesday, May 3rd, 2011 by Hailey Lonowski
The days leading up to district music never fail to be stressful ones. For the choir, this means not wasting a single minute of precious rehearsal time that’s available in the short time between the musical and the district music competition. It means singing the same line over and over until it’s absolutely perfect. Most importantly, it means working as hard as you can to give the best performance possible, and showing everyone what you’re capable of.
