Detective Hword Holmes: Barista’s of Hastings

Wednesday, March 13th, 2013 by

This may have been my “sweetest” case yet…..Say hello to Barista’s of Hastings! I’m still savoring the sweet and salty taste of my divine salted caramel mocha from Barista’s one day later! On a brisk winter day, I’m convinced it’s the perfect drink to indulge in. Creamy and delightful, it was good to the last [...]

Lazy Cookie Bars

Tuesday, February 5th, 2013 by

The original name of this recipe is Lazy Mom Cake Cookies but since I’m only a mom to an adorable kitty-cat, I renamed this Lazy Cookie Bars because it is simple enough for ANYONE to make. It is my go-to dessert recipe that is a family-favorite.

Get Your Kicks…..Kaffekiks

Tuesday, December 18th, 2012 by

What’s a Kaffekik? It’s not a cookie, and it’s not a biscotti, but it’s somewhat of a cross between the two. The name comes from Debra’s Danish heritage, which led her combine the Danish words kaffe (coffee) and kiks (biscuit).

Drink Up

Friday, November 9th, 2012 by

Hastings has quite a few wonderful places to purchase wine and spirits. The best part about all this is that you and I are supporting local businesses. By supporting these Hastings businesses, we help keep costs down at their establishments as well. So, for your next liquor-buying excursion, try the aforementioned businesses to support your community.

A St. Patty’s day tradition for a number of years, this March brought a new challenge to the Irish Holiday. Not wanting to abandon the festivities completely, I had another mission in mind. I was on an adventure to find the best Reuben in town.

Rave Review on Kitty’s Roadhouse

Saturday, March 6th, 2010 by

You know something is going right when you visit a new bar/grill twice in one week. Where do I begin….let’s start with the decor – themed fun with attention to the smallest detail. You will want to visit often because each time you will notice something new. The door handles, bar, beer tap, bathrooms, even the walls offer a unique decor – first indication some really creative people are behind this venture.

Hastings’ newest restaurant,Rivals, opened last week. I had the chance to sample the menu on Saturday and was quite pleased with the creative additions to the “sports bar” menu scene.
