The original name of this recipe is Lazy Mom Cake Cookies but since I’m only a mom to an adorable kitty-cat, I renamed this Lazy Cookie Bars because it is simple enough for ANYONE to make. It is my go-to dessert recipe that is a family-favorite.

The next time you are having company from out of town – or just looking for a place to eat out – do not forget the local gems that are right in front of you. Hastings truly has a nice collection of local restaurants, all delicious, enjoyable and affordable. Most often, they will probably be as good, if not better, than the chain restaurants requiring quite a lengthy drive out of town.

You will want to visit often because each time you will notice something new. The door handles, bar, beer tap, bathrooms, even the walls offer a unique decor – first indication some really creative people are behind this venture.

Hastings’ newest restaurant,Rivals, opened last week. I had the chance to sample the menu on Saturday and was quite pleased with the creative additions to the “sports bar” menu scene.
