I grew up in the small town of Palmyra, where a majority of my summer was spent at my Grandparents’ farm. My sister and I showed pigs each year at the Otoe County Fair. Though my Dad tried to get me to help with all the chores and gardening around the farm, I always found myself disappearing to my Grandmother’s kitchen.

Anyone who knows me fairly well knows that I do not cook. Rather, I do not have much cooking experience. Usually, I enjoy many of my meals at work or make something easy at home. There are even special times when I am lucky enough to enjoy the cooking of my amazing grandmother. Ever since I have moved, I have had to rely more on myself for meals than ever before. There are still the quick fixes of macaroni and cheese but lately I have branched out to try new recipes not only to nourish my body but my soul.
