As some of you may know, I have a second job. It’s not because I like working 60 hours a week or because I really enjoy getting a 10% discount on items like giant bags of cat food (for my aforementioned adorable cats). It’s because I have student loans. Instead of changing my email, phone number, and mailing address (that seemed a tad extreme and I really didn’t have the time to dedicate to becoming anonymous), I went out and got myself a second jobby job. Again. I’ve had a lot of jobs over the past 16 years as a career gal. In college, I always had 2 or 3 jobs, and as far as second jobs go, Kmart (the Mart as I call it) isn’t that bad.

The new gallery show at Graham Gallery features an artist we haven’t seen before in this area, Patric Jernigan. He lives in Plainview, Texas. His wife has connections to a small Nebraska town, which brings them to Hastings from time to time. He liked Graham Gallery and the owner, Angela Graham, liked his art, so a show was born. It is called “The Book of Hidden Things”.

On the other hand, maybe it’s even more fun to attend and take in the festivities without finding costumes, decorating the tricycles or wagons, and figuring out whether the pet should be in the parade.
