Roaring ‘20s ‘Music & Mayhem’ to Benefit Hastings Museum

Hastings Museum is going back to the roaring ‘20s by transforming the Hastings City Auditorium into a classic speakeasy, complete with great food, a great band, live radio shows and more as part of Music & Mayhem!

Unexpected Delights

On Tuesday evening of last week, we went to the live music event at the Blue Moon, and had a delightful time. We didn’t know what to expect, since we’d never heard of the Blackberry Bushes String Band, but we enjoy live music, so decided to give it a whirl.

Award-winning film coming to Hastings Museum

It’s not everyday you have an opportunity to see a Sundance award-winning film right in your backyard. Yet here we are just a couple of days before the opening of the critically acclaimed “Restropo” at Hastings Museum – the only Nebraska showing of the award-winning film outside of Lincoln.

Friday Fiesta! HOT! HOT! HOT!

The Variety Show is an evening of acts in a variety of styles – singing, acting, dance, comedy and so on. The pace is fast and the mood is light. The goal is to entertain. Variety shows are less expensive to produce, and less time consuming than musicals and they are a nice way of bringing together performers who might not necessarily audition for a traditional theatre production. Having said that…the Variety Show should never be mistaken for something easy! There’s much to coordinate and a lack of organization could lead to disaster! Let the show begin…

Take a Visual Trip…..

Most of us don’t get the opportunity to travel the world in search of adventure or beautiful places. When I spoke with Bruce Bohlen, who has had this opportunity, he shared that he felt blessed to be able to pursue his passion. The results of his travel and his passion for taking fantastic photos can now be seen at Graham Gallery.The show is titled “Africa” which, in a word, tells you the subject of the photographs on display.
