A Community of Gardeners

A little over two years ago, about one dozen avid gardeners began creating a space to grow vegetables and flowers for themselves and friends on garden plots that each measured about three hundred square feet. Once in a while, gardening is less fun and more work, but always rewarding.

Stop asking why we’re still here already!

If you worry about having a sustainable workforce and a decreasing population base, stop asking the twenty-something’s why they are still here. Try saying things like: “We’re glad you decided to live in Hastings.” Because, believe it or not, they probably have a list of reasons why they choose to live here—and it’s you that needs to revisit your own list.

Sunday started as a beautiful morning. It was about 8:30, the sun was already lighting up the kitchen with golden autumnal rays setting the scene for a great sensory experience. I filled the tank of my espresso machine with fresh water and turn it on.

Is it really possible? No-Knead Artisan Bread

There is absolutely nothing like the smell of fresh home baked bread straight from the oven. The siren call of the crackling crust as it cools is simply irresistible. For a piece of bread warm from the oven, I would break the cardinal rule.
