Wednesday, December 16th, 2009 by Kelli Poplau
My mother always told me that it’s rude to lick your fingers in public. I resisted the urge to put my fingers in my mouth, instead wiping my messy hands politely on my napkin and went on with my meal. A few of these good eating habits were tossed aside, however, on one Thursday night last February when one of my friends invited me to Wing Night at Taylor’s Steak House (on North Kansas Avenue) here in Hastings.

Tummy Time and Your Baby
Tuesday, December 15th, 2009 by Megan Paben, MOT OTR/L
Tummy time is what therapists call prone extension. This is when your child spends time on his or her tummy and works on getting their head lifted off the floor. It is important for your child to spend time on his or her tummy to assist in meeting developmental milestones. Tummy time works on trunk (back, stomach and side muscles) and neck strength, as well as, works on body awareness.

Christmas is More Than Just Gifts
Friday, December 11th, 2009 by Andy Herrmann
As an adult, the holiday season passes a bit differently than it does as a kid. Instead of counting doors with chocolate resting behind them, I watch the days pass on my Outlook calendar at work, and Christmas always seems to be coming too soon.

Thursday, December 10th, 2009 by Renee Thomsen
As we get closer to Christmas, watch for great deals on baking products in the next two weeks. This is a great time to stock up—especially on items that have a long shelf life or are freezable. I still have some cookie dough mix in my freezer from last year!

City Dweller Comes Home
Thursday, December 10th, 2009 by Amy Sandeen
Last week, I visited the big city. Entering the suburbs, weaving in and out of heavy traffic in the spider web of interchanges and exit ramps, I was grateful that I didn’t do that every day. The thing is, I did do that every day. For eighteen years.
